Mortgage Backed Securities Incapital offers CMOs and secondary Agency Pass-Throughs. The issuing agency (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac or Ginnie Mae) will guarantee that the principal is returned in full over the life of the mortgage-backed securities. Because the agencies are assuming the risk of borrowers defaulting, they will only securitize loans that meet certain guidelines.
